Finding The Right Niche

Ok, so you have a great product and you’re ready to start selling, but you find it hard to get visitors to your website. Traffic can be expensive, Google Adwords and other pay-per-click methods may get you traffic, but those services can take a large chunk out of your profits.

Finding out where people go to discus your niche is one of the first steps you can take. Search Google, Yahoo, or any other search engine to find the forums people are using to talk about your niche.

If your product is truly a product that people need or want, then there are people discussing your niche somewhere right now on the Internet..

This can be valuable for many reasons. First and most obvious reason is that if these people are talking about your niche, then they could be buyers of what you’re selling. You can get into the conversation and tell members of the forum what the product is, how it works, and why they will want it or why they need it?

You could buy advertising on the site, put up your banner so everyone sees it. It might cost more up front than Google Adwords, but it’s going to be shown specifically to your target market, and thus conversions are going to be much higher then a general approach.

Forums are also just another approach. There are MySpace communities, Yahoo groups and many other Forum Groups out there. Conversions vs. cost are going to be far better, if the community matches your product. In addition, in many cases, it’s going to be completely free.

This newsletter is just to get you thinking, hopefully you can get out there and find your niche market community and get involved.

New Product Ideas

If you are now just starting to think about getting your own product to sell on-line and not sure what to sell or where to start, perhaps we can give you a few ideas on how to get going.

First, the best selling product on the Internet is information. It sells because everyone needs it. Just like anyone else, there are plenty of things you would like to know more about. How will you get the information that you need? Likely, someone else who is very knowledgeable in that subject will supply it to you.

Now you are probably an expert or very well informed about something. This is where you should start looking. I would recommend looking for something you are already very much into. Not only is this going to be much easier for you, but designing the product will be more fun for you!

You should ask yourself, is there something that gets you excited, or perhaps you are already an expert in a specific field? Is there something you would do whether you were paid or not.

Well, its time to turn that idea into a profitable business. Hiking, cooking, sports, and planning are just a few ideas.  There could also be a topic you are interested in, but that you are not necessarily an expert.  Perhaps when this topic comes up in conversation, you always feel as you have to get your two cents in.

This is where you want to start.

If you need more ideas, there are plenty of free tools to help you see what other people are interested in. If you want ideas then go to the website: http://www.43things.com/

This website has listing after listing of what people all over the world are interested in. See something you are an expert at on the list, then that would be a good place to start for you.

If you are already interested in a product you are going to develop; it will be far more fun to develop and the extra care that you give to your product will be noticeable by your customers.

Joint Ventures

Making friends in the world of joint ventures is very important, so I wanted to send a follow up to the last newsletter, which will explain the best way to go out about, contacting possible joint venture partners. Pay close attention, because the tips in today’s newsletter may make a world of difference between making a little money and making a lot of money.

What’s the proper way to contact someone? Any marketer out there, who really has the ability to help you, gets anywhere between 5 to 50 people emailing them daily asking for a JV deal.

**************************************************
SO HOW DO YOU GET THEM TO PICK YOU?
**************************************************

There are several ways of going about this, but all of those ways include you sending them an email introducing yourself, complementing their product and informing them that you would like to sell their product or you have a friend, which can sell their product.

Don’t even mention that you want them to sell for you, if you do; they are going to delete your email with all the rest. Your strategy is not to have them sell for you, but instead it’s to build a relationship. They will be motivated to build a relationship with you if you can do something for them.

Your email to this powerful marketer might look something like this:

“Hi Bob,

I just purchased your product and I was blown away. I am going to start reselling this product to my members, as I am sure most will be able to benefit the way I have. However, I also have another JV partner who has a very responsive list as well, I am sure his list would also take pleasure in purchasing your product.

If you would like me to contact him and send him a copy on your behalf, I would be happy to do that for you. I am quite certain he will also feel the same way as I did and endorse you as well.

If this is ok with you please let me know. Also, don’t worry about paying me any sort of brokering fee, that’s not why I am here. I just want to make sure, my list only gets quality products recommend to them, and my friend feels the same way about this list.”

Sending an email along these lines will get you through the door. There are several ways to rephrase your email. Just make sure that the message is clear that you want to help them and expect nothing in return.

From here, you can start building a relationship. Remember to stay in touch over the next couple of months by send emails to them about twice a month. You always want to make your emails business orientated, especially at first. As your relationship grows, you can mix in some personal topics.

Then in two or three months inform them that you have a new product coming out, send him a free copy to review and suggest to him that if he believes this product would be beneficial to his list. Then perhaps he could endorse you.

Now this is somewhat of a gamble. He could say no, thus if you don’t have a high quality product, do not try this. In addition, if your product is not satisfactory, then it will hurt the relationship you just spent two or three months building.
